Highlighted by an outstanding performance from the Golden Knight Women, the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team put in an impressive effort at the United State Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) Divisionals held at Prospect Mountain Ski Center, Bennington, VT over the weekend. The Knight Men and Women won both the 10k skate and 10k classic races in convincing fashion.
In Saturday’s 10k skate race, the Clarkson Women took the top three spots with junior Alyssa Dausman (Syracuse, NY) leading the way with a first-place time of 35:09. Classmates Andrea Walsh (Underhill Center, VT) and Emily Garrant (Marcellus, NY) finished closely behind in second (36:08) and third (36:59), respectively.
On Sunday, the women also dominated the field in the 10k classic, placing the top four skiers. Walsh was the individual winner with a time of 40:21. Dausman placed second (40:34), followed by Garrant in third (41:53) and senior Alicia Perras (Portsmouth, RI) in fourth (44:00)
Junior Alex Benway (Queensbury, NY) paced the Golden Knight men to first place showings in their respective events. Benway was fourth in Saturday’s 10k skate with a time of 28:42. Freshman Nick Marshall (Huntington, VT) placed sixth (29:22) and sophomore Andrew Klem (Dalton, MA) finished seventh (30:01).
Benway led the field in Sunday’s 10k classic with a first-place time of 30:19. Marshal came in third (31:12) and Klem finished fifth (32:16).
