Canton, NY - St. Lawrence's Emmanuel Mbong scored one goal and assisted on another as the Saints downed the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team 3-0 on a cold and damp Saturday afternoon at SLU's Sandy MacAllaster Field.

Clarkson closed out the season with a 6-8-2 overall mark and a 1-6-0 league record. The Saints finished the regular season with a 14-2-2 mark and a 6-0-1 record in conference games, claiming the top seed in the Liberty League playoffs.

The Golden Knights had some chances in the first half off a pair of corner kicks, but had difficulty getting the ball through to the goal as the Saint defense denied their efforts. St. Lawrence allowed only three shots on goal for the game, yet Clarkson had 10 shot attempts and six corner kick chances in the contest.

The Saints opened the scoring off a corner kick 24:59 into play as Mike Manfredi sent the ball into the goal mouth and sophomore Alex Laird headed it inside the far post for his fourth of the season.

A three-man break led to the second Saint goal just 1:34 into the second half as Mbong gathered in a pass and banged a shot off the far post. Dan Marvin was there to collect the rebound and put it into the net uncontested for his fifth goal of the year. Mbong then scored his second of the season at the 57:23 mark with sophomore Sam DeMello assisting.

Sophomore Saverino Spagnolo (Ottawa, ONT) finished with 12 saves for the Golden Knights, and Nate Goss-Woliner made three saves for the shutout for the Saints. Both teams had six corner kicks.
