Golden Knights post convincing lax win over SUNY Canton women

The Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team displayed a balanced effort on Tuesday night as 11 different Golden Knights scored goals as the Green and Gold overwhelmed SUNY Canton 21-3 under the lights at Hantz Turf Field for their second straight victory.

Senior Saryn Campbell (West Bolton, VT) and junior Katie VanDeValk (Baldwinsville, NY) led the way for Clarkson with four goals apiece. Campbell also picked up three assists to finish with a seven-point night, while VanDeValk chipped in two assists to post six points.

Junior Alyssa Cristaldi (North Syracuse, NY) set up four goals to become the Golden Knights’ all-time assist leader with 54 during her three-year career. Cristaldi also scored three times for a seven-point outing.

Clarkson dominated from the start taking a 13-0 lead after the opening 30 minutes.

Senior Laura Barlow (Latham, NY) and Freshman Abby Doyle (Syracuse, NY) tallied two goals each, while senior Alyssa Dausman (Syracuse, NY), juniors Kerrie Cline (Tuxedo, NY) and Nicole Kelly (Syracuse, NY) and freshmen Danielle Faivus (Oswego, NY), Cassie Grace (Potsdam, NY) and Taryn Dausman (Syracuse, NY) rounded out the Clarkson goal scorers with one tally apiece.

Tressa Goolden led Canton (1-8) with two goals. Brooke Knight scored the other goal for the Kangaroos.

The Knights outshot Canton 40-17 and led in ground balls 25-12. Senior Hannah Walters (Amherst, NY) turns aside all eight shots she faced in the first half to record the win. Sophomore Kara DiNatale (Auburn, NH) made one stop in the second half for Clarkson.

The Knights, who stand at 5-6 overall, will look to continue their winning ways when they play at Liberty League foe William Smith on Friday in a 4:00 p.m. contest in Geneva, NY.
