The St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team was narrowly defeated by Brockport State on Saturday in Rochester, NY.  The Saints held a slim 5-3 advantage at halftime, but the Golden Eagles scored four straight goals in the second half en route to the 8-7 victory.

St. Lawrence moves to 2-4 on the season, while Brockport improves to 2-2 overall.

The Saints used goals from senior Kim Morse, juniors Paige Powell, Margie Bailey and Alanna Piroli, as well as sophomore Stephanie O'Rourke to take a 5-3 advantage at halftime.

The Golden Eagles had all of the momentum out of the locker rooms, however, scoring the first four goals of the second half and taking the 7-5 lead.   Morse's eighth goal of the season and second of the game would bring the Saints to within one, 7-6 at the 9:16 mark, but Brockport's Karen Bianchi responded with a goal around a minute later to put Brockport back up by two.

Junior Kendall Harty scored her sixth goal of the season with 3:16 left on the clock to bring St. Lawrence to within one, but Brockport held the Saints scoreless for the remainder of the game to pull out the 8-7 victory.

The Golden Eagles held the advantage in shots (31-24) and ground balls (18-14).  The Saints committed 17 turnovers, though senior goalie Anna Marchand turned in a 13-save performance for the visitors.  Jamie Kaminsky earned the victory for Brockport, making 13 total stops.

The Saints will look to rebound from the loss as they head to Geneseo State on Tuesday, March 29th for a non-conference match-up.  The game is scheduled to start at 4:00pm.
