POTSDAM -- Four SUNY Potsdam softball players were named Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes for the 2021-22 academic year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Junior Emily Beck (Lowville, N.Y./Beaver River), junior Anna Grottola (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot), freshman Rebecca Holmes (Lawtons, N.Y./North Collins), and sophomore Hope Sandor (North Salem, N.Y./North Salem) were honored with the award.

The NFCA recognizes student-athletes as an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete for their dedication and success in the classroom. Each individual selected was able to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for the full school year.

Beck started in all 29 games that she played, posting a .976 fielding percentage in the outfield.

Grottola, started all 33 games for the Bears last Spring, registering a .268 batting average on 26 hits, including three home runs. The first baseman also scored 15 runs and drove in eight.

Holmes, who split time between third base, catcher and the pitching circle, started in 16 of the 22 games she appeared. Holmes compiled 24 assists and a .939 fielding percentage.

Sandor, a valuable utility player, saw action in 23 games with 22 starts. She chipped in three runs and six hits this season for the Bears.
