Five new players on board for 2011 Clarkson men's soccer season

POTSDAM – Clarkson University men’s soccer coach Nick Hillary has announced his second recruiting class, with expectations that the newcomers will help lead the Golden Knights back to post-season play in the near future.

Hillary, along with assistant coach Ian Fairlie, targeted five players that should come in and make an immediate impart for Clarkson in the 2011 season. The group includes two forwards, a midfielder, and two defenders.

Clarkson lost key starters on the defensive side, so freshmen Trevor Blackwell (Pittsford, NY) and Michael McDonald (Ogdensburg, NY) are sure to get plenty of looks in the pre-season as potential replacements for the departed seniors. Blackwell possesses good knowledge of the game and reads the ball well, while McDonald plays simply and positions himself well. Both have good size and take an intellectual approach to the game.

Joining the midfield will be Ben Morton-Black (Colchester, VT). Morton-Black owns good vision in the midfield and is quick to make well-placed passes to lead his teammates into quick transitions on offense.

Finally, Dan Geraghty (Shavertown, PA) and Alex Vozzella (Boston, MA) will look to bolster the team's offense as forwards in 2011. Geraghty has good size and has a good nose for the ball inside the box, while Vozzella is quick, making good runs off the ball with a relentless style of play.

Clarkson's pre-season will begin in mid-August.
