CANTON -- Getting the Most from Your Woodlot will be offered for land owners on Thursday, March 14, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Extension Learning Farm classroom, 2043B State Highway 68.
Paul Hetzler from Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) and Steve Sherwood from the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will lead the discussion.
The evening will be an all-around introduction to managing your woodlot.
Topics include how to get started managing your woodlot and when to get some help.
For example, when and why to hire a commercial forester.
Managing you woodlot for the long term or for short term gain will be compared. Programs forest owners can take advantage of in the county, prevention of timber theft, tree economics examples and what to do if there is a Sugar Bush in your woodlot will all be covered.
