An early lead in the second game of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series against Dartmouth College would not hold up for the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team as the Big Green rallied for a 4-2 victory over the Golden Knights at Thompson Arena in Hanover, NY on Saturday afternoon.

The sixth-seed in the playoffs, Clarkson will look to advance to semifinal round by defeating third-seeded Dartmouth in Sunday’s deciding game 3, which begins at 2:00 p.m. The Knights, who own a 14-16-6 overall record, skated to a 4-1 victory over the Big Green (20-10) in the postseason opener on Friday.

Clarkson started off strong on Saturday and took the opening lead at 7:21 of the first as junior Gabrielle Kosziwka (Limehouse, ONT) tipped in a shot from the point by junior defenseman Katelyn Ptolemy (Dinsmore, SASK) for her fifth goal of the season. Freshman Jamie Lee Rattray (Kanata, ONT) also assisted.?Dartmouth, which struggled on the power play in Friday’s loss, took advantage of its opportunities on Saturday with a 3-of-6 effort with the extra skater. Sally Komarek tied the game with a power-play tally at 6:38 of the second.

The Knights went back on top at 11:56 when junior Juana Baribeau (Amos, QUE) stuffed in a wraparound shot for her 10th goal of the season. Freshman Carly Mercer (Exeter, ONT) assisted.?Just 68 seconds later, however, the Big Green evened the score, capitalizing on the power-play with Camille Dumais’s goal during a scramble in front for the first of three unanswered goals by the home squad.

At 2:13 of the third period, Sasha Nanji gave Dartmouth its first lead of the series with an unassisted goal off a quick shot from the right circle.

The Big Green sealed their 20th win of the season with an empty-net, power-play goal by Amanda Trunzo with 1:33 remaining.

Dartmouth outshot Clarkson 28-26. Freshman Erica Howe (Ottawa, ONT) posted 24 saves. The Knights, who went 2-of-3 on the power play in Friday’s win, were scoreless in three man-advantage opportunities.
