Junior Callum Cusinato got the St. Lawrence men's hockey team on the board early with his first goal since November 2017 on Saturday night, but the Saints fell to Dartmouth 3-1 at Thompson Arena in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Cusinato, who missed all but 10 games in 2018-19 due to injury, backhanded a shot from the edge of the crease over the glove of Dartmouth's Adrian Clark at 1:26 of the opening frame with Andrew McIntyre assisting for a 1-0 St. Lawrence lead.

But it was all Dartmouth from then on out, as the Big Green answered with a goal from Cam Strong at 5:44 to tie the game, and then Will Graber put the home team in front for good at 9:22.

Graber capitalized on the St. Lawrence turnover on the half wall in the Big Green's offensive zone and went forehand backhand on netminder Francis Boisvert, lifting the puck top shelf on the blocker side from the edge of the crease.

At the midway point of the middle frame, Drew O'Connor gave the home team a two-goal cushion with a power-play tally for his 11th of the season. He worked it into the high slot for a wrister up the middle that may have hit a leg on the way through and went high on the blocker side.

Dartmouth finished 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Saints went 0-for-2.

The Saints held Dartmouth to just one shot on goal in the third period, but took just five of their own. Dartmouth finished with a 27-15 advantage in shots on goal.

Clark stopped 14 in the win to help Dartmouth to a weekend sweep. Boisvert made 24 saves for St. Lawrence, including 18 in the second period alone.

With the loss, the Saints' struggles continue, as they fall to 3-19-3 overall and 1-12-0 in conference play. Dartmouth improves to 10-5-3 and 7-3-1 on the year.

St. Lawrence has a rare January bye weekend next weekend before returning home to Appleton Arena on January 31 and February 1 for conference matchups with Brown and Yale.
