RPI, which won both games of Saturday's series opening?games, won the first of Sunday's twinbill, 14-2. The Engineers are 9-5 overall?on the season and 3-1 in Liberty League play while the Saints are now 3-9?overall and 1-3 in the league.
RPI, the visiting team in Sunday's doubleheader in Troy, stormed out to a 8-0 lead in game one?and cruised to the win. Carter Franz and Mike D'Auteuil accounted for four of?the six Saint hits in game one off RPI pitcher Dan Duval, who pitched a?seven-inning complete game, allowing six hits and striking out seven. Three?Saint pitchers surrendered 19 hits in game one.
In game two, the Saints took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the?first and never looked back en route their 10-2 win.
Khifer O'Connor's single started the scoring in the big?first inning in game two and a hit batter and a walk produced two more runs.?Ethan Braddock and Bryan Palermo also had run-scoring singles in the first?inning.
The Saints tacked on a run in the third on Palmero's?run-scoring single and made it 8-0 in the sixth on O'Connor's home run.
RPI got two off Conde in the top of the eighth, but the?Saints responded with two of their own in the bottom of the inning to close it?out as Brian Magovney singled in two runs.
