Macedon, NY - Less than ideal conditions played a big role at the ECAC Championships this weekend at Blue Heron Hills Country Club, as the tournament was limited to just one day thanks to cold and rain. The weather stifled scores, but Clarkson University Golf team member Tyler Cline (Tuxedo, NY) did his best against the elements, finishing tied for fifth with a score of 78 at the par-71 course.
The Golden Knights finished in a tie for fourth among 10 competing teams. Host St. John Fisher won the event with a dazzling 304, with Elmira coming in second at 316. St. Lawrence was third at 336, followed by Clarkson (338), New York University (338), Oswego State (345), Hobart (346), Stevens Institute of Technology (346), Potsdam State (346) and Utica (368).
Cline, a freshman, placed just three shots off the top score for the day with his seven-over par 78, tying for fifth among 57 golfers. Senior Brendan LaFleur (Sandown, NH) was next for the Knights, tying for 31st with a score of 86. Sophomore Rob Wood (Westford, VT) and senior Joel Bailey (Boonville, NY) were a shot behind and tied for 33rd, while Mike Sundstrom (New Haven, VT) came in a tie for 44th with a score of 90.
