Three different Golden Knights scored goals and senior goaltender Lauren Dahm (Baldwinsville, NY) played a solid game in front of a hometown crowd as the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team defeated Syracuse University 3-2 in non-conference action in central New York on Friday night.

Playing in its only game of the weekend, Clarkson won its third straight game to improve its overall record to 4-6-1. The Knights will host Syracuse (4-5-1) next Friday afternoon at Cheel Arena in Potsdam.

After a scoreless first period, Syracuse took the initial lead at home when Isabel Menard connected for a power-play marker at 2:31 of the middle frame. The Knights, however, took the lead after 40 minutes with two late goals in the stanza 1:44 apart.

Freshman Vanessa Plante (Riviere-du-Loup, QUE) tallied on the power play at 14:07 for her first collegiate goal to tie the game. Freshman Jamie-Lee Rattray (Kanata, ONT) and sophomore Danielle Skirrow (Trenton, ONT) assisted. At 15:51, junior Juana Baribeau (Amos, QUE) put the Green and Gold in the lead with her third goal of the year with sophomore Hailey Wood (Lethbridge, ALB) and junior Gabrielle Kosziwka (Limehouse, ONT) assisting.

Clarkson went on top 3-1 at 12:50 of the final period with the eventual game-winning goal from junior Kali Gillanders (Kyle, SASK), her first goal of the season. Freshman Brittany Styner (Calgary, ALB) assisted.

The Orange recorded their second goal of the game when Menard scored again at 18:37, but the Knights held off Syracuse over the final minute to gain the road victory.

Syracuse out shot Clarkson 27-24. Dahm made 25 saves, including 10 in a scoreless first period. Both teams were 1-of-4 on the power play.
