POTSDAM -- Thanks to 30 kills from freshman Adrienne Walker (Centennial, CO), the Clarkson University Volleyball team took two more league victories in defeating Skidmore College in three sets and Vassar College in five sets Friday night at Alumni Gymnasium.

On the first day of the second Liberty League weekend, Clarkson went 2-0 to improve to 19-1 overall and 6-0 in the Liberty League. St. Lawrence also won a pair of matches, while Skidmore and Union each went 1-1, and Vassar and Bard went 0-2. The conference matches will continue tomorrow on the campus of St. Lawrence University.

Clarkson won the first match against Skidmore in three straight sets, 25-22, 25-10, 29-27. Sara Artus (St. Regis Falls, NY) struck for 13 kills, 8 digs, and 4 blocks and Lani Durio (Austin, TX) contributed 36 assists, 12 digs, 2 aces, and 7 kills in 8 swings. Walker had 10 kills in just 18 swings and Rachel Simons (Webster, NY) produced 8 kills and 5 blocks. Erika Chin (Katy, TX) led the team with 17 digs and Durio added 12 digs.

In the second match against Vassar, the Knights required five sets to take out the Brewers, winning 25-19, 18-25, 25-11, 22-25, 15-6. Walker was dominant against Vassar with 20 kills and just 4 errors in 33 swings to go along with four blocks.

Freshman Becca Brabec (Lemont, IL) added 12 kills and 19 digs, while Artus produced 11 kills and 15 digs.

Bailey Walker (Centennial, CO) and Simons also tossed in 10 kills, with Simons also adding 6 total blocks. Durio assisted on 52 kills and also produced 10 digs, while Kristen Orlandini (Fairport, NY) and Chin contributed 17 and 13 digs, respectively. Chin also led the team with three aces.

"To say that I am proud today would definitely be an understatement," coach Johan Dulfer remarked.

"I am so pleased with how much we played like a team, how today was a true team effort. We played hard, never lost faith, and really enjoyed being out there on the court together. Skidmore and Vassar are both incredibly talented teams. I thought today was all about match ups; we found some things that worked for us and really took advantage of those things. Today was a big day for us, but we have to be ready for tomorrow."
