Clarkson Skiers Win USCSA Nordic Divisionals

Seniors Alyssa Dausman (Syracuse, NY) and Alex Benway (Queensbury, NY) led the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team at the United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) Divisionals on Saturday at Paul Smith’s College.

In the 10k Skate Race, Dausman finished first for the women with a time of 33:45. Benway led the men with a first-place time of 27:22.

The Clarkson Women won their event with six points, easily out-pacing Hamilton (28), which took second in the five-team race. The Golden Knight Men also took first out of five teams with nine points. Cornell was second with 22.

Senior Emily Garrant (Marcellus, NY) placed second in the women’s race with a time of 34:24, followed closely behind by classmate Andrea Walsh (Underhill Center, VT) in third (34:56). Junior Rachel Bachman (Queensbury, NY), freshman Olivia Dawson (Scottsville, NY) and senior Audrey Keene (Hilton, NY) finished fourth (35:17), fifth (36:43) and sixth (36:58), respectively.

For the Clarkson Men, junior Andrew Klem (Dalton, MA) placed third (27:56) and classmate Zach Russo (Fayston, VT) finished fifth (28:42). Overall, the Knights placed eight skiers among the top 10 of the men’s event.­
