With a solid night in the crease from Frank Marotte (Longueuil, QUE) and timely goals from Devin Brosseau (St. Lambert, QUE) and Nick Campoli (Toronto, ONT), Clarkson skated to its fourth win of the season over its archrival, shutting out St. Lawrence 2-0 at Appleton Arena in Canton Saturday night.

With the victory, their third straight, the Golden Knights reached the 20-win mark for the third consecutive season and for the fifth time in the past seven campaigns. Ranked 5/6th in the national polls, Clarkson stands at 20-6-2 overall and holds on to the top spot in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 13-3 league mark. The Green and Gold have six games remaining in the regular season and take to the road next weekend playing at Quinnipiac and Princeton.

The Knights held a 25-21 edge in shots over the Saints. Marotte, a graduate transfer from Robert Morris, posted 21 saves for his third shutout of the season and picked up his 70th career win and 20th victory at Clarkson.

Clarkson's captain, Brosseau put the Knights on the scoreboard first with his eighth goal of the year late in the opening period. Senior Haralds Egle (Liepaja, Latvia) gathered in a loose puck along the right boards and fired a shot on net. The rebound kicked out to Brosseau in the slot where the left wing put a move on a Saints' defenseman and lifted in a shot at 15:13. A graduate student, Brosseau, who was named a Top 5 Finalist for Hockey Humanitarian Award earlier in the week, has 27 points through 22 games

With 11 seconds remaining in the middle frame. Campoli, a sophomore left wing, picked up a bouncing puck at the right circle and fired in a quick shot that rang off the post and in for his second goal of the season to give the Green and Gold a two-goal advantage heading into the second intermission. Junior Grant Cooper (Cornwall, ONT) and sophomore defenseman Michael Underwood (Bloomfield Hills, MI) assisted.

The Knights controlled play over the final 20 minutes, outshooting St. Lawrence 10-6 in the third period.

Clarkson's number-one ranked penalty kill extended its streak to 19 straight kills by holding the Saints scoreless on both of their power plays. The Green and Gold also went 0-of-2 on the man-advantage.

Clarkson which defeated St. Lawrence three times at Cheel Arena earlier in the season (4-3ot, 3-2ot, 3-1) became the first team in the North Country series to go 4-0 against the other in one season since the Knights knocked off their archrival four times in 1992-93 campaign.

The Knights have won nine of the last 10 meetings against St. Lawrence.
