POTSDAM -- Graduate student Zach Tsekos of the Clarkson University Men's Hockey team added another award to his list of honors as he was chosen a CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 At-Large selection when the organization released its picks on Thursday afternoon, May 19.

Tsekos joins former teammate Devin Brosseau (2018, 2020) on the list of Golden Knight hockey players to receive the honor, joining Brosseau, Nick Dodge (2007, 2008), David Evans (2001, 2002), Mikko Ollilla (1999), Todd White (1997), Steve Palmer (1995, 1996), Jason Currie (1994), Steve Dubinsky (1992, 1993), and Dave Fretz (1985).

At-Large selections are for sports that do not have their own Academic All-District teams, including (for men's sports) lacrosse, rifle, skiing, fencing, swimming, tennis, golf, volleyball, gymnastics, water polo, hockey, and wrestling.

Tsekos had a cumulative grade-point average of 3.90 as an undergraduate and also possessed a 3.92 GPA in grad school while studying Data Analytics. The ECAC Defensive Forward of the Year and an ECAC Second-Team All-Star, he ranked third on the team in points (31) and tied for second on the squad in goals scored (15).

Tsekos was one of just six hockey players across the country to earn the honor in CoSIDA's eight districts, and he will move on to the national ballot which will be voted upon in the coming weeks.
