POTSDAM -- This summer, Clarkson University women's lacrosse head coach Kathryn Durki served as one of the coaches for USA Athletes International in the Czech Republic and Germany.
Durki and Georgia Tech women's lacrose player Georgina Schaefer Durki headed a group of players that came from all over the map of Division I, Division II, and Division III, including players from Georgia Tech, Indiana Tech, and Western New England College.
The team completed a 4-1 record from June 15th to June 24th, losing in the championship game in Berlin by a single goal.
Rising senior Hannah Walters (Amherst, NH) played in Prague during the summer of 2010 and helped Durki make the decision to coach after she was initially contacted by USAAI in January.
"She talked alot about her experience and how much she enjoyed going to play, meeting new girls and touring around," Durki said.
"She loved the city and talked all year about how amazing it was and I felt that not only would this be a great opportunity to see Europe, but also to learn new things that could potentially help me as a coach at Clarkson. Even though the girls came from different schools from different levels, they all clicked right away and played well together. Everyone always encourged one another."
Durki begins her fourth year as head coach for Clarkson University this fall.
