HAMBURG -- Senior Ariana Czech (Big Bear City, CA) scored twice in the first 15 minutes as the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team coasted to a 5-0 victory over Hilbert College Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Knights improved their record to 3-2 overall with their second straight victory. Clarkson will host Plattsburgh State at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night ath Hantz Turf Field.
It took little time for Clarkson to gain control against the Hawks on Saturday, as Czech scored the Knights' first goal of the contest at 5:13.
Shooting a low shot from just inside the 18-yard box, Czech found an opening in the left corner for the game's opening score, with the assist coming from Linde Zajac (Cicero, NY). Czech added her second goal less than nine minutes later, tallying the goal off a throw in from Zajac.
The Golden Knights picked up their third goal of the contest in the 39th minute as junior Hilary Mosher (Hilton, NY) scored unassisted on a break away.
The Knights picked up two more scores in the second half as Czech returned the favor to Zajac off a corner kick from Alyssa Dausman (Syracuse, NY). The final goal of the contest game with less than two minutes to go as freshman Marissa Cook (Chateaugay, NY) scored on another break away.
Stephanie Collins (Colton, NY) and Liz Snow (Watertown, NY) combined to make two saves in the shutout. Clarkson out shot Hilbert 26-9.
