The Clarkson University Athletic Department has announced the addition of Nick Cacciola as the top assistant for the Golden Knights’ Baseball program for the 2011-12 season.
Cacciola, who replaces former assistant Tim Hughes, graduated from the University of Rochester in May 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He will continue his education at Clarkson, pursuing a master’s degree in business administration.
Cacciola played for four seasons as a pitcher for the Yellowjackets when the team reached three consecutive Liberty League Tournaments (101-58 overall, .635 winning percentage), hosting the conference championships twice during that span. He led the Liberty League in appearances in 2010 with 19, and led his team in relief innings (38.1) that season while ranking fourth overall. As a team captain in 2011, Cacciola led the team in innings pitched (39.2) and strikeouts (30). Overall for his career, he earned six victories in 43 appearances, mostly as a reliever, striking out 60 batters
Clarkson Baseball has reached the NCAA Regional twice in the last three seasons.
