CANTON -- The Canton Bike Group will hold a special ride marking the 160th anniversary of American artist Frederic Remington's birth on Oct. 3 starting and ending at the Partridge Run Golf Course, 70 Sullivan Drive.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg.

To register, go to https://forms.gle/Rj84a79GtF4Ae5ew7

There are two routes:

Captains' Route: $65, a mass start at 9:30 a.m. (You may start earlier or later depending on your pace).

This scenic 50-mile loop will shuttle you along the Oswegatchie River, past quiet Amish homesteads, and up to the St. Lawrence River. Stop, top off your engine, and enjoy the historic Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg at the halfway point. Swing back to Canton on a fast, flat farmland route.

Riders are invited to explore the art and information inside the museum! For riders with cleated shoes, please be prepared to help protect the museum's finished wood floors. Consider packing flip-flops or other footwear. Socks are okay, too!

Lieutenants' Route: $60, a mass start at 11 a.m. (You may start earlier or later depending on your pace).

Enjoy a 20-mile romp looping you past two Frederic Remington landmarks in the heart of Canton. As life goes, you will roll past Remington's birthplace and end the ride with a stop at Remington's gravesite. In between, you'll pedal North Country landscapes the likes of which influenced some of Remington's work.

This route is ebike friendly!

After-Ride Meal: Enjoy a bite to eat and indulge in a drink at the golf course after your ride. The meal service will begin at noon and end around 3 p.m. The final menu is in the works but keto and vegetarian options will be available.

ll riders, even those who are pre-registered, must sign a waiver and release form before they start.

Remington's 160th ride will go rain or shine; only canceled if severe weather is forecasted.

Remington's 160th Ride organizers reserve the option to make the ride virtual if NYS COVID regulations require.

Please wear a mask when gathered at the mass start and while in close proximity to others.
