St. Lawrence won the 4x800, and Elizabeth Brown finished in fourth place in the 400 hurdles to lead the Saints' women's outdoor track and field team at the Cortland Classic hosted by SUNY Cortland on Saturday.

Maura McAnaney, Kayla Beck, Ashley Walker and Caroline Driscoll all ran legs of 2:36 or 2:37 to outpace Hartwick, the Saints' only opponent, by nearly 95 seconds, finishing with a time of 10:28.32 in a torrential downpour.

A day after shattering the program record in the javelin and moving in third place on the NCAA Division III performance list in the event, Kathleen Merchant finished sixth in both the shot put and the discus with All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference Championship qualifiers in both events. She had a season-best throw of 11.97 meters in the shot put and improved on her collegiate-best mark in the discus by 1.82 meters with a toss of 37.72. Kimberly Merchant also hit the AARTFC qualifier in the discus, finishing seventh with a throw of 36.13 meters.

Chase Davies was sixth out of 19 entries in the heptathlon, scoring 3,516 points to also qualify for regionals in her first collegiate multi-event competition.
