Potsdam, NY – Jaid Baytos celebrated Senior Day in style, scoring six points of her eight points in the first half to help lead the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team to a 19-9 Liberty League win over Union College on Saturday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 9-6 on the season and 5-3 in the Liberty League, their fourth straight victory and third straight win in conference games. Clarkson has two conference games remaining on the schedule to firm up its place in the league standings, heading to St. Lawrence on Wednesday and facing University of Rochester next Saturday.

Union started off strong with a pair of goals in the first six minutes, but the Golden Knights then rattled off six goals in a stretch of less than eight minutes to gain a 7-2 lead. Jaid Baytos was the key to the run, scoring four goals in less than six minutes, each of them unassisted. Union put a brief halt to the Clarkson scoring streak, but Aubrey Borgesi scored back-to-back goals and Baytos added a fifth goal in the half to put the Knights up 10-3. Union started to get back into the game in the final minutes of the first half, scoring three times to make the score 11-6 at the break.

Clarkson led in shots (23-12), shots on goal (18-9) and draw controls (12-6) in the first half, but the Dutchwomen owned a 12-5 advantage on groundballs.

Early on in the second half, Clarkson scored four goals in four and a half minutes to gain a 16-7 edge and Jaid Baytos's sixth goal of the game at 16:27 put the clock on a constant run. However, Union put an end to that with back-to-back goals at 11:58 and 10:46 from MK McIntire and Ramsey Walsh. That was as close as the Dutchwomen would get as the Knights stopped Union's offense the rest of the way and tacked on two more goals to close out the contest.

Baytos finished with a season-high eight points, tying her career-best performance with seven goals. The senior has enjoyed tremendous success against the Dutchwomen the last two years, scoring 17 points on 11 goals and six assists.

Abby Collins added four points on a goal and three assists and also contributed three groundballs, four draws and three caused turnovers. Borgesi produced four goals, Sydney Roderick tacked on three points with a goal and two assists, and Marisa Clarkson scored twice. Samantha Gladd made six saves in the Clarkson crease to pick up the win.

For Union, Ellen Taney was busy in net, making 15 saves on 34 shots on goal. Hannah Rosenberger scored three goals.
