Bautista posts two hits as Roos baseball closes out Florida trip v. Vassar

Port Charlotte, FL – Brandon Bautista paced the Roos with a pair of hits but the SUNY Canton baseball team closed out its Florida trip with a 10-2 loss to Vassar on Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Bautista's two hits included a double and single, while Edward Malinoski, Jr. and Ben Miller also had base hits. Miller and Collin Lynk drove in one run each for Canton.

The Roos scored both of their runs in the first inning on a Lynk RBI walk and a Miller sacrifice fly.

Vassar tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the third inning and they added three runs in the sixth and five in the seventh.

Matt McGannon earned the win giving up two earned runs over six innings with seven strike outs. Collin Trathen took the loss giving up three earned runs over five innings.

Jason Salerno, Taylor Smach and Gunnar Widercrantz led the Brewers with two hits each, while Tanner Blough drove in a pair of runs.

The Roos are back in action next weekend when they take on Fisher College and Maine Presque Isle in the Clemente Cup on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Lynn, MA.
