Senior Mike Brion went 8-of-11 from the three-point line as RPI defeated the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team 72-56 in a conference match up on Saturday in the Burkman Gymnasium.

The Saints, who were led by junior co-captain Garrett Sharlow (12 points, five rebounds), fall to 9-10 overall with a 5-4 mark in the league. The Engineers, who made 16 three-pointers in the contest, improve to 12-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

Junior Ralph Temgoua had 10 points for the Saints, while senior Ben Araya and sophomore Jon Goldberg both added eight points apiece. Matthew Pooley finished with 14 points, including 4-of-6 from the three-point line for RPI.

The home team chipped away at the deficit and a dunk by sophomore Nick Meunier with 18 seconds left in the half gave the Saints a 30-28 lead. A 3-pointer at the buzzer by RPI's Matt Dixon gave the visitors a 31-30 edge heading into the locker rooms.

In the second half, the Saints took the lead with back-to-back lay ups (34-31) but sharp shooting would ultimately earn RPI the victory. The Engineers sank 9 of its 16 threes in the second half to pull away for a 72-56 win.
