LOUISVILLE -- Two women were charged with drug possession following a traffic stop Thursday morning, according to state police.

Elizabeth A. Briggs, 32, Canton, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, officers said.

Melissa A. Laffin, 40, Binghamton, was charged with five counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, police said.

Both subjects were cited at 4:14 a.m. and released, officers said.
