Sheriff deputies charge sex offender for failure to register new address

GOUVERNEUR — A sex offender was charged with failure to register on Jan. 21, deputies say.

Scott A. Bell Jr. was charged with failure to register an updated address, a felony, after deputies investigated an incident that took place in the town of Gouverneur, according to deputies.

Bell allegedly did not provide law enforcement or New York State with an updated address within 10 days of leaving a previously registered address, deputies say.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is set to appear in Gouverneur town court at a later date.
