Potsdam police make two DWI arrests, assault arrest, issue two speeding tickets

POTSDAM – Potsdam police made two arrests charging drivers with driving while intoxicated and one with a charge of assault, and issued two speeding tickets Sunday.

Sherry Malak, 41, Potsdam, was charged with improper left turn on two-way roadway, driving while intoxicated, and aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content .18% or higher. The driver was stopped along Market Street at 2:18 a.m. after a patrol reportedly saw the driver make an improper left turn on Market Street. Upon the traffic stop Malak was found to be intoxicated and was transported back to Potsdam Police Department for processing where it was determined that Malak had a BAC of .19%, police said.

Kylee J. Lashomb, 21, Norfolk, was charged with driving across hazard markings consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and driving while intoxicated after being stopped by police on Market Street at 3:59 a.m. A patrol reported that the driver was observed crossing the hazard marking at the intersection of Market Street and Main Street, striking the median. Upon traffic stop it was determined the subject was intoxicated and had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. Subject transported to Potsdam PD for processing where it was determined the subject’s BAC was .11%, police said.

Kenneth A Summers Jr., 28, Potsdam, was charged with disorderly conduct: fighting, and third-degree-assault with intent to cause physical injury stemming from an incident reported to police on June 16th, 2019, in which two subjects were assaulted at a local business on Market Street.

Lacy L Countryman, 20, Malone, was charged with speeding at 6:09 p.m. after a patrol observed her travelling at 69 mph in the posted 45 mph zone on Madrid Avenue.

Tamara D. Guarino, 62, Monrovia, CA, was issued a ticket for alleged speeding at 52 mph in the 30 mph zone along Maple Street at 9:12 p.m.
