PIERREPONT -- A Colton man was charged with driving while intoxicated Tuesday night, according to state police.
William J. Waite, 58, was charged with first-offense DWI, officers said.
He was allegedly stopped for failing to signal a left turn on CR 24.
Troopers said they detected an odor of alcohol from inside the vehicle and Waite was showing signs of impairment.
Waite allegedly failed field sobriety tests at the scene.
Police said he refused a breath test to determine his blood-alcohol content at the police station in Canton.
Waite was arraigned in Pierrepont Court and released on his own recognizance, police said.
