OGDENSBURG – Hye Chong Yi, daughter of Tae Hui “Youmi” Guilbert of Montgomery Street, Ogdensburg, and formally of Potsdam gave the valedictory address at the 3 p.m. June 21, 2010 commencement ceremony for the Faculty of Arts and Science at Concordia University in Montreal, Que.
Yi earned her Bachelor’s in Specialization Human Relations and graduated with great distinction. Human Relations is the study of group dynamics covering such topics as interpersonal communications, diversity, and conflict management.
In her final year of study, Yi did her internship in the Applied Human Sciences Department at Concordia.
She created The FLEX Program which was a peer-to-peer support and resource community for internship students. Through her work with the FLEX program, she was awarded the Brian T. Counihan Scholarship for Outstanding Contribution to Student Life, A. Ross Seaman Memorial Scholarship for leadership and commitment to community service, and Robert C. Rae Book Prize for Human Relations for graduating with the highest GPA in the program.
Yi also won several grants for her internship project, including Concordia President’s Grant for Small Programs and was on the Dean’s List during her tenure as a student.
She plans on pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration.
