Zonta of Ogdensburg’s Children’s Literacy-Service Project to continue this fall

The Zonta Club of Ogdensburg’s Children’s Literacy-Service Project will continue this fall, thanks to widespread community support.

The project continues to be an overwhelming success. We can’t thank people enough for their wonderful generosity. The awesome support received has surpassed expectations. Last year we received and redistributed thousands of donated, gently-used/new children’s books.

Children constantly outgrow their books. So why not pass them on to other children. The collected books will continue to be distributed to these locations based on age appropriateness: Well Child Clinics, Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center, Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, Head Start Classroom at Kennedy School, and two Pediatricians’ Offices.

The recipients are delighted to receive the donated books. Deliveries are made to these locations biweekly and sometimes weekly, depending upon supply/demand. It is important to note that the children are given the books to take home.

The books are stamped stating that they are donated by the Zonta Club of Ogdensburg.

We are happy to continue this project as long as donations keep coming in. Books can be given to any Zontian OR dropped off at current collection/drop-box locations: Julie Hooper’s Dance Studio, Claxton Hepburn Medical Center Cafe and Price Chopper. Thank you so much for your continued support of our efforts to keep reading alive in our community.
