Starting September 1st, Community Lunch Program for Kids (CLPK) will be collecting gently used shoes as a part of a Funds2Org fundraiser. By donating your used shoes to us, you will a) keep them out of landfills, b) they will be reused in third world countries and c) you will be helping CLPK continue to offer support to local children in the Norwood, Norfolk and Raymondville area. Win! Win! Win!
We will be accepting all kinds of new and gently used shoes. Sandals, flip flops, workboots, dress shoes, and yes, even cleats and athletic shoes! We will accept all sizes of footwear from baby sizes all the way up to adult. Shoes should be gently used with no holes or mold. Shoes should have soles intact, with no broken heels. We cannot accept rollerblades, ice skates or shoes with wheels.
We have several Collection Sites available: Norwood Public Library, Norfolk Public Library, St. Andrew's Church (Norwood) Church of the Visitation (Norfolk) The first Methodist Church of Norwood and the Congregational Church in Norwood. We will also be accepting gently used footwear at Wagner's Whistle Stop Thrift Shop (please designate for CLPK), as well as the post offices in Norwood, Norfolk and Raymondville.
During the Summer of 2019 The Community Lunch Program for Kids provided over 9,000 meals to children in the NNCS district when these children couldn't access the free/reduced breakfast/lunch program. We also helped prepare 181 students for the school year by providing backpacks, sneakers, socks and underwear, as well as sponsoring the BACK2SCHOOL 2019 event at NNCS.
We had a very busy summer and now we are hitting the ground running in September with this shoe drive sponsored by Funds2Orgs.
Please help us continue to help the kids. Our next food distribution of food for our approximately 80 families with almost 200 children will be in November just prior to Thanksgiving vacation. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Wendy Chambers at 315-212-0520. As always, your help is sincerely appreciated!
