To the Editor:
New York State counties have a choice in selecting a county treasurer – either by appointment based on a candidate’s qualifications or by an election. Years ago St. Lawrence County chose the electoral process.
Our current Deputy Treasurer, Kevin Felt, has impressive qualifications: a BS degree in Business Management (SUNY Plattsburgh), a Masters Degree in Business (Clarkson University), eleven years of finance experience in the private sector, two years of actual on-the-job training with the current treasurer, Bob McNeil, who has given Kevin his full endorsement. Kevin has also received the unanimous vote of the Central Trades Labor Council.
The County Treasurer is a Department chair whose main function is the management of the county budget and reporting to the elected officials regarding the financial status of the county.
Let us wisely choose a qualified accountant, Kevin Felt, as our next County Treasurer.
