A fund raising event was held Saturday, June 8 at the Swing Time Mini Golf on U.S. Route 11, to help support the Potsdam Kiwanis Club’s Scholarship Fund for a scholarship awarded to a senior student graduating from the Potsdam High School.

Kiwanis members thank all sponsors, general public and the audience attending the Annual Potsdam High School Talent Night, organized by our Key Club, for their generous donations that helped the Club reach their goal to award a $500 Scholarship to Potsdam High School Graduate, Dallas Brown.

We encourage public support to our sponsors: Two Mama Birds, Arby’s, Blevins Insurance Agency. Community Bank, Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Dream Vamps, Evans & White Ace Hardware, Garden Place Estates, Go Green Storage, Mahoney’s Auto Mall, Manor’s Stump Grinding & Lawn Restoration, Potsdam PTSA, Sea Comm FCU, St. Lawrence FCU, Barstow’s, Roxy Theater, Price Chopper, Pizza Hut, Harris Medical, Merriman’s, Hampton Inn of Potsdam, Five Guys and Beth Robinson of Swing Time Mini Golf for her help in putting on a successful event.

Donation jars on each table at the monthly Parishville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary Italian Night Dinners garnered $500 over nine months, was awarded to Erica Sloan, who graduated from the Parishville-Hopkinton High School District. This is the first time ever that the Potsdam Kiwanis Club awarded a scholarship to a Parishville-Hopkinton High School graduate. It is hoped that this tradition and support from the participants at the monthly dinners, will continue forward for years to come.

Potsdam Kiwanis Club is anxious to create a satellite club serving the Parishville- Hopkinton Community. The Club meets at the Ponderosa Restaurant every second and fourth Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. each month. A minimum of eight people are needed to form an independent Kiwanis Club in the community, that can support children’s programs starting with Head Start Reading, K-Kids, Builders and Key Clubs, in partnership with the Parishville-Hopkinton School District. Responsible adults are needed of any age to start a club.

Please write to Board of Director, Henry W. Walters, 474 State Hwy 11-B, Potsdam, NY 13676, or telephone (315) 265-3917 for more information/inquiries.
