Ponderosa fundraising event supports Potsdam Snack Pack Program

Posted

Thank you to Jeff Prosper and the Ponderosa Restaurant team for hosting a fundraising event for the Potsdam Snack Pack Program.

Throughout the month of February, Ponderosa provided a free beverage coupon to customers who donated at least $1 to the program. Thanks also to the Ponderosa customers who generously donated to the snack pack program!

We received a check from Jeff Prosper for $634 that was used to purchase two different lunch items for the snack packs. Jeff credits Jessica Escobales, a Ponderosa employee, for her enthusiastic sharing about the program and how it benefits local students.

Each week more than 300 students receive a snack pack containing at least eight items, including one lunch meal, so the donation is already making a difference. We will continue to distribute snack packs during the school shutdown. Each Friday volunteers will travel with the school buses to eight different sites in Potsdam and surrounding communities to distribute snack packs.

Finally, we owe a debt of gratitude to Janice Adderley and the entire UPS Store team for their partnership and tireless support of the program.

The UPS Store donated all the posters and coupons for the Ponderosa fundraising event and for many other activities associated with the snack pack program. Their partnership has been invaluable and speaks to the close relationship that exists in our community between nonprofits, businesses and private citizens.
