To the Editor:
The St. Lawrence County Branch of AAUW extends their thanks and that of their community partners to Congressman Bill Owens and his staff, and to Dr. Tony Collins and Clarkson University for hosting the Farm Bill Forum Town Hall with Congressman Owens on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Cheel Center.
A special thanks to the Center for Excellence in Communications under the direction of Dan Dullea, and to his crew of students whose technical assistance made the recording of the Farm Bill Forum possible for later broadcast on WCKN, Cable Channel 30, and viewing on YouTube.
The Town Hall was also broadcast live by North County Public Radio, the media sponsor, who has a video link posted at http://vimeo.com/37440179.
Congressman Owens has a special e-mail address for anyone wishing to make comments about the Farm Bill as it moves though the legislative process. Your comments can be directed to NY23townhall@mail.house.gov.
The civic partners for this event included the League of Women Voters of St. Lawrence County, the Sustainable Living Project, GardenShare, Seedcorn, NCPR, St. Lawrence and Jefferson County Cooperative Extension and the Farm Bureau.
WCKN, the Public Access Station run by the students at Clarkson, is a powerful tool that AAUW and our community partners use to educate the broader community about a host of issues that directly affect the quality of our civic, political, and economic life.
