Tio the Editor:

Recently, we celebrated our country’s 246th birthday. America - the country that was a great experiment. A country founded by men and women who believed in the Judeo-Christian God and used the principles found in His Word to forge documents unlike any others that had been formed.

Documents that plainly stated that God created all people equal. Documents that clearly stated that it was God who grants inalienable rights to people, not governments. Documents that formed a republic with the authority resting in those governed, not in those governing. Documents that wisely divided the governing authority among three distinct and separate bodies with safeguards to ensure that none of these governing groups got too powerful.

Sadly, the foundation upon which our great nation was built has been slowly eroding away. The Biblical principles that were woven into the fabric of our society’s laws and practices are being removed. God was kicked out of the education system because one person objected to prayer in school. The ability to pray with students has eroded to the point where even voluntary prayer is verboten.

Our laws have been ignored by those in charge where we see that people are punished severely for disobeying non-legislated mandates (Does anyone remember the mask mandate?) while criminals are allowed to do whatever they want (Does anyone remember the cities on fire? Of statues being torn down? Of criminals released with no bail only to be arrested days later for violent crimes?)

When the absolute standard of truth is rejected, society will turn to secular authority and will be subject to the governing rulers’ concept of truth. This is the very opposite of what the founders had in mind; but unfortunately, it is what we are headed toward in America today. At what point do we speak out?
