I have to wonder, as a concerned citizen of Canton, what is going on with our local government and their relationship with municipal employees? Since the current leaders have taken office, Canton has lost at least ten employees, some with many years of service to the community. Several of these employees even stated in their resignation letters that the decision was due at least in part to “the work environment.”
Here are some of the positions that have had turn over: two Code Enforcement Officers (one lasting only a few months), two Highway Superintendents; two Town Clerks; two Recreation Department Directors; Village Superintendent; Town Supervisor’s secretary; and three Town Council members. There has to be a common thread for so many employees to abruptly leave. Who or what is that common thread?
In November, we need to seriously consider whom we are electing for our village and town government and start making the changes that our town needs!
