To the Editor:

I am writing in support of my friend Jim Gibson for Town of Canton Highway Superintendent. I’ve known Jim for over 12 years and he would bring a wealth of experience to the job. He has over 40 years in the construction business and extensive knowledge of all aspects of road construction and road maintenance. Being a small business owner, he also understands the administrative duties that would be part of the job (purchasing materials, inventory management, etc.).

In addition to his wealth of experience, Jim has always been cost conscious, which as a taxpayer I care deeply about. In fact, Jim told me 2 days ago that if he was elected he would explore all opportunities to reduce taxpayer expense, including evaluating shared services with the Village and County. Jim’s willingness to explore collaboration opportunities with the Village and County is the type of creative thinking that could benefit taxpayers, while also improving the quality of roads.

I am voting for Jim because he has 40+ years of experience in all areas of the job and I know he will be able to use that vast experience to improve the quality of roads, while also being thoughtful of taxpayer dollars.
