To the Editor:

Recently, the North Country Junior Golf Tour completed its 2022 season. Rick Berkman, Director of NCJGT, deserves profuse thanks for his central role in providing youth golfers of our region (ages 8-18) the opportunity to experience five elite golf courses in Upstate New York. During July and August, the NCJGT brought together nearly 40 golfers to play, connect, and compete on the links.

Events were held at Malone Golf Club, Partridge Run Golf & Country Club, The River Course at Louisville Landing, St. Lawrence University Golf Course, and Potsdam Town and Country Club.

Thanks to the generous support of Victory Promotions and Under Armor, the players were provided a number of giveaway items throughout the tour including golf towels, club covers, performance tee shirts, water bottles, and more. Each event included the presentation of a winner’s plaque and gift cards for the top three finishers in each of the age divisions - 12 and under, 13-15, and 16-18.

Following the final event at Potsdam, players were treated to a barbecue lunch, end-of-season raffle prizes, and one more chance to gather with kids who share a common interest in golf.

Among those who helped Rick make all of this come together for these young athletes were Assistant Director, Chris Johnson; as well as Brian, Jamie, and Jules at Potsdam Town and Country Club. We would encourage anyone with a young golfer to consider participation in the 2023 North Country Junior Golf Tour next summer.
