Opinion: Story was unabashed stenography that pandered to Rep. Stefanik, Massena resident says

As a resident of the north country, I of course read the news on a local level, but also read about news on a state, national and international level through a multitude of outlets.

That being said, I was saddened to see this news site publish an article about Rep. Stefanik's thought of the Democratic party and their "politicising" of the VAWA.

This article had no reason as to why the Democratic party was against the bill as it was, as it included repealing laws that prohibited people convicted of domestic violence from owning or being able to purchase a gun.

Rep. Stefanik and her backers at the NRA wanted that part shut down because guns.

I am ashamed at whomever wrote that article as it was unabashed stenography, pandering to Rep. Stefanik without discussing reasons for the Democratic refusal to approve the bill. Better journalism is best met by leading through example. Maybe the writer of that article needs to take lessons from other writers at your news site.

Quit pandering to the Republican base and present both sides of the argument.
