To the Editor:
I was the most recent owner of the former Sears Hometown store. I just wanted to let our loyal customers know how deeply appreciated they are.
I spent many years getting to know our North Country people and enjoyed assisting them with their Sears needs, 22 1/2 years, actually. I have many fond memories of those interactions within my career. Customers have become friends along the way.
We served a broad area, as we were the last remaining store around. It was a sad day when I had to place a "CLOSED" sign on the door. Manufacturing and supply chain issues were not improving fast enough for my comfort. I could not confidently renew my contract with Sears (not lease) and feel financially stable.
The effects the pandemic has had on the world have blown my mind. My staff and I will work elsewhere. Just about everybody needs good help right now. I am in the process of determining my next workplace. I will miss you and hope we meet again.
