To the Editor:
The Canton Chamber of Commerce’s theme for its 2023 Dairy Festival was somehow “Delightfully Dairy”.
There are decades of peer-reviewed literature which summarize the nutritional/health consequences associated with dairy consumption, the environmental degradation resulting from dairy agriculture, and the various forms of animal abuses imposed upon dairy cows and their male siblings. This literature does not result in a “Delightfully Dairy” theme. “Dairy Is Scary” might have been a more relevant theme.
I suggest that the Canton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors put a little thought into their next festival. If they do so, their dairy promotion will likely end.
