To the Editor:

I believe I know what it takes to be a St. Lawrence County Legislator. Stephanie Petkovsek in District 8 has what it takes.

I have had the great pleasure of getting to know Stephanie over the last several months. She is determined and passionate about serving her community. She will represent the interests of her constituents because she has the experience and knowledge of their needs.

She grew up in an Upstate area much like our own. She was raised in a small community in Herkimer County that is surrounded by family farms. Her own dad was raised on one of those farms. She understands the hard work and multiple skills it takes to be a part of that culture.

Her mother was a preschool teacher. From this she learned the importance of educating and protecting children in our community. She has often stated her commitment to their protection as she is a mandated reporter of any type of abuse and takes that obligation very seriously.

Stephanie went to Syracuse University on a scholarship to become a history teacher. Her interest in the field is rooted in a deep patriotism for our country. She went on to graduate school at the University of Buffalo. She has taught in our public schools and is now a teacher at SUNY Canton.

Stephanie is currently and has been a member of the teaching unions during her career and has been endorsed by a number of unions who believe in her commitment to our community.

I look forward to Stephanie's knowledgeable and fair approach to government representation. She is a person that will work to come to solutions with all members of the legislature. She does not carry extreme beliefs in a personal agenda. She is running to serve all county constituents. Her focus will be on what is best for the families of District 8, particularly their children as they are the future for all of us.

Therefore, I wholeheartedly endorse Stephanie Petkovsek for District 8 County Legislator and ask my many friends in her district to do the same by voting for her on November 8, 2022.
