Opinion: People need to protect people, says Parishville woman

To the Editor:

My opinion is in regards to the BLM rally in Massena on Aug 1.

I want to ask the question, When was the last time anyone felt they needed to attend a protest to prove they were against the behavior being protested? Like maybe a rally against abortion or any other kind of murder, rape, or robbery, or abuse?

“A group of four men and a woman...were identified as counter protesters.” Why? because they watched you and didn’t walk with you? Thank you to reporter Andy Gardner, who clarified their presence and did not accept the protesters accusations of counter protesting.

As they stated they were there to see if the protesters were going to be responsible. They didn’t say anything and weren’t carrying signs.

Private citizens are on guard because of the “peaceful” destructive, sometimes deadly BLM rallies around the country. I support any action against racism, but would never associate myself with the Marxist BLM movement.

I challenge anyone in support of BLM to do their homework and read their statement on what they’re about. There’s some good and a lot of not so good in there.

People need to protect people.
