Opinion: Norwood-Norfolk Central School Freshman Transition Program thrives

To the Editor:

The Freshman Transition Program at Norwood-Norfolk Central School has been working hard this year to make 9th grade students start off high school strongly. We would like to thank the many people who have helped our program thrive in these past few weeks.

On September 1st, the high school welcomed incoming 9th graders for Freshman Orientation. Teachers had a great time meeting students and their families. Our team is so grateful for the National Honor Society students who led tours of the building, as well as Student Council members who organized hygiene products and school supplies that were donated for the event.

A special thank you goes out to Wendy Chambers from the Community Lunch Program; the Massena Walmart; and the high school Student Council for donating school supplies and hygiene items that 9th graders were able to take home after orientation. We so much appreciate your generosity!

Also, on September 10, the Freshman Transition Program hosted an after school Fun Day for 9th graders. We had lots of fun playing kickball and having an ice cream party that was sponsored by Stewart’s. Thank you, Stewart’s, for your delicious donation!

And, of course, our events would not have been possible without the hard work of the maintenance, custodial, and transportation staff at NNCS. Thank you for all you do to make our school run smoothly. We appreciate you!
