Tears From Heaven

It rained this Memorial Day,

Tears from heaven came down.

For all the people and their reasons,

For forgetting why the day was found.

To honor our servicemen and women,

Who gave their life so we could be in the land of the free.

They looked down from heaven to see a sad sad sight,

To see their duty to their fellow man,

Meant nothing to many on this day.

It rained this Memorial Day,

Tears from Heaven fell from those who gave their lives.

So many could be free.

Now if you could ask them, they would say,

No one wanted medals, or statues in their likeness.

They just did their duty, they did it with pride.

When Uncle Sam called on them.

They did their due cuz it had to be done.

This day was meant for more than a day off from school,

work, or a sale at the department store.

It was meant for something good and meaningful to those,

Who died keeping us free.

To pay respect and honor those who never came home,

And those who did with memories they will never share.

Of buddies dying in their arms and things too hard to bare.

It rained Tears from Heaven today as our war dead and fellow soldiers,

Who went after them, looked down from Heaven to see,but a handful of people.

Honoring their efforts to help keep all people free.

Movies and Tv shows will never really show what our service people saw, The horrors of war fought in far away lands and here in the War between the States.

For some don't really want to know.

When they left for the war, they were young people with hopes and dreams of a future made good by what they were doing.

Some came back broken and without hope, Others found they had done a lot of growing up and their old dreams were now a part of their past.

It rained this Memorial Day

As our fallen servicemen and women looked down to see.

Many have forgotten why this day was founded or why we are free.

They didn't do it for medals or statues in their likeness,or for your sympathy.

They just wanted to help us to live in freedom, it was something they felt they had to do.

They had to help keep us the Land of the Free.

It rained Tears From Heaven this Memorial Day.
