Opinion: Norfolk resident says vote for Breit for Norfolk Town Justice

To the Editor:

I write this letter to encourage the readers to vote in this November’s elections. Specifically, I urge you to consider Jill Breit for the position of Norfolk Town Justice.

As you may not be aware, she has been serving in this position for the past several months.

Jill was a fellow member of the Norfolk Library Board along with me several years ago. In working with Jill I found her to be detail-oriented, intelligent, willing to do whatever tasks were required, and enthusiastic about this volunteer job. These are characteristics that will serve Norfolk well in the position of Town Justice.

Jill was appointed to her current position in April 2022 to fill an unexpired term. She promptly undertook the initial training necessary to obtain her NYS certification as a town justice. Shortly after completing that course work, she became an acting justice. By the time of the November elections she will have served in this capacity for half a year.

With her personal characteristics and having completed her certification and responsibly performing her duties, it makes it a clear choice to vote for her, so that she can continue to serve the people of Norfolk.
