To the Editor:
To all those who “stand with you frontline workers” and are proponents of vaccine choice (as opposed to those who cannot get the vaccine for health reasons)– I Challenge You: pace around your house for 12 to 16 hours- every time you sit you have to do 15 squats (simulating how many times a nurse will sit down and get up to respond to patient’s needs.)
You get two trips to the bathroom, and maybe a 10-minute snack break. You have to remove a wet towel from under a 150 pound, 175 pound and 200-pound sandbag three times (you can ask for help with this) and replace the towels with dry ones.
Fix a leaky faucet, and change all the bed linens in your house. Do this all while wearing a plastic bag over your body, eye protection, and a face mask. Do this challenge for three days or nights in a row, your choice. Maybe then, you’ll have some idea of what it means to stand with front line workers.
If you really want to get a sense of what it's like, set your house on fire.
