To the Editor:
As we consider our votes for the upcoming election, it can be difficult to identify fact from fiction, guilt from glory or the real differences between left and right.
So an endorsement for a candidate must be a testament to a person’s character, their awareness of constituent needs, their commitment to work tirelessly and their ability to work intelligently on behalf of SLC residents. Margaret Haggard is an exceptional candidate in every category.
Margaret has worked as a teacher and has achieved national certification, has served as a village justice, and possesses an MBA from a distinguished university.
She has witnessed the effects of poverty on children and their families, the devastation of substance abuse, and the lifelong damages of child abuse. She recognizes the financial challenges many families and individuals face in housing, transportation, and nutrition in our county with a high poverty rate.
Margaret knows the challenge of keeping taxes affordable while providing essential services to our public. She asks the tough questions and seeks solutions based on collaboration and a solid base of assessment. She has no tolerance for backroom politics, believing public issues should be debated with transparency.
With deep roots in the North Country, Margaret is committed to helping our county address the many challenges we face. Your vote for her will assure your voice will be heard and your representation will be strong.
