To the Editor:
Girl Scout Week is celebrated annually to align with Girl Scouts’ Birthday on March 12. During this week, Girl Scouts have a longstanding tradition of celebrating our troops and communities—to share information about Girl Scouting and its benefits, to thank our communities and volunteers for the support they provide and to allow our girls to be recognized as Girl Scouts.
With this tradition, we also partner with our faith communities to recognize their support of our Movement and members.
Juliette Gordon Low had a dream. In March 1912, when she brought that first group of girls together in Savannah, Georgia, she wanted them to explore new possibilities and the wonders of the world around them—and she wanted them to do it together.
The GSNYPENN Pathways Council is just one of many Councils all over the US. GSNYPENN covers 26 counties, throughout New York State and a small part of northern Pennsylvania, but here in the north country we are but a small part of this huge council. Our Raquette Valley Service Unit takes in Girl Scouts from five school districts: Madrid-Waddington, Norwood-Norfolk, Potsdam Central, Colton-Pierrepont Central and Parishville-Hopkinton. The girls participating are from ages 5-18 and the adult volunteers that work with the troops are from all the surrounding towns.
Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways is thrilled to welcome you and your girl! Membership dues are just $25 annually, and financial aid may be available. Whether you have questions about starting a new troop for your girl and her friends, joining a troop, becoming a volunteer, or something else, send us a note at info@gsnypenn.org or call us at 1-855021308555. We’re here for you!
